Chamomile is commonly used in the U.S for relaxation and calming as a tea or topical infusion. The U.S. National Library of Medicine lists over 100 ways inwhich this herbs has been used medicinally including various skin inflammations.
The National Center for Complementary and Alternative Medicine caution of rare allergic reactions, atopic dermatitis, skin rashes, rosacea, drowsiness or sedation, the potential to stimulate the uterus, leading to abortion and the unevaluated safety of breastfeeding while taking chamomile. Interactions with other herbs and medicines has not been well studied for chamomile.
