Common uses: A mild astringent and are used in skin washes as they are believed to refine the complexion and help relieve eczema, acne and psoriasis.

Egyptians used this herb to improve the complexion and heal burns.

Elder flower water is used as a mouth wash and can be strainedto make an eye wash.

Used in ointments and poultices used for burns and scalds, swelling, cuts and scrapes.

Herbal tea blends containing this herb have also been used treat the common cold and flu.

The Elder flower are used as a  diaphoretic, anti-inflammatory and anti-catarrhal (meaning that it prevents inflammation and discharge for mucous membrane).
